American Red Cross: The chance to help suffering and save lives is our
goal. The United Way Red Cross continuously delivers people and supplies
throughout Wayne County wherever a life-saving opportunity arises.
Our volunteers are well trained and proud to support disaster relief, blood
services, health & safety and provide assistance to Armed Forces emergency
services.

- Disaster Services provided 9,765 parents and children with knowledge about
safety and emergency preparedness.
- 53 families who were fire victims had their immediate needs (clothing,
food, medication, and shelter) met within 24 hours of presenting fire report
to Disaster Services.
- 18,351 patients (6,117 units of blood) were able to receive blood from
hospitals when they needed it. (Wayne Memorial did not report any shortage
of blood during 12-month period).
- 891 of donors were first time donors. Of this number, 461 were high school
students who were first time donors. There were also 6,196 of donors were
repeat donors.
- 90% of participants successfully completed skill objectives and passed
written examinations in areas such as basic level first aid, CPR, aquatics,
caregiving, and disease prevention.
- 98.9% (6,857) of the participants successfully completed and received
certificates for the American Red Cross’ First Aid and CPR courses.
- 97% (97) of Lifeguard Training participants successfully completed the
course.
- 100% (99) of Babysitting Training participants successfully passed the
course.
- 2,688 participants gained knowledge about HIV/AIDS basic skill prevention.
