Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County: Through hands-on training and
education, our volunteers provide the experience and quality environment to
teach youth they and their families are a positive force within our community.
Our programs include Education & Career Development and Health & Life
Skills to prepare our youth to adapt in an ever-changing world.
Education/Career Development
- 83%(59) of members completed at least one service project that addressed
environmental issues.
- 88% (78) of members who were at an unsatisfactory grade level are now
achieving a passing/satisfactory grade in the Computer Smart Program.
- 60% (15) of members participated in a "Job Shadowing" event
while in the Career Explorers/Job Ready Program.
- In the Goals for Growth Program, 53% (75) members successfully completed
at least 5 short-term goals and 2 long-term goals upon completion of the
sessions.
- In a member survey, 92% (138) of members feel safe at the Boys and Girls
Club.
- Members who attend the Boys and Girls Club 3-5 times per week have better
results in program pre & posttest as well as surveys, especially in the
PowerHour Program.
Health/Life Skills
- 89% (125) of members in the Kids in Control program (ages 6-9), are able
to apply first aid (cuts, scrapes, bruises) to themselves or siblings.
- Through the Nutritional Educational Program, 85% (119) of members are able
to prepare a minimum of 10 nutritional snacks.
- Through the Passport to Manhood Program, 90% of male members achieved an
80% accuracy on the post test concerning personal fitness, personal
wellness, morals, values, dating, and fatherhood.
- Through the Etiquette Perfect program, 83% of female members achieved an
80% accuracy on the post test concerning personal fitness, personal
wellness, morals, values, dating, and motherhood.
